Little girls bedroom makeover

Lifestyle

By guest blogger, Nicole -The Builders Wife

The beginning of the year has been a busy one with clients looking for my mood board services. I’ve just completed a new board, for a 3-year-old girl who is moving into her big girl bed. I’ve loved the tween boards I completed last year, but I think this is my favourite so far!

The brief for this bedroom was to create a calming space for the transition from a nursery to a ‘big girls bedroom’. I remember the stage with my own daughter, who was heavily into Teletubbies at the time! My client was after a calming room, to help soothe the day away.

We had a $500 budget to use on soft furnishings, as they had a bed and draws to use in the space already. The walls in the room are already painted in a neutral white, which we’ve continued to use as the base.

I just adore this colour combination. I have zoned the room into sleeping and reading or playing. Nothing is more magical than a reading nook under a canopy.

I have always wanted to create a faux taxidermy wall, and loved putting together this collection for a little girls room. It will be a gorgeous focus piece. Mum has a bunch of decor from as the room is now, to transfer over to a large vignette for on top of the dressing table, but if you didn’t I’d add a collection of more soft animals, or perhaps some wooden toys or books.

This room will be a comfortable space for my clients daughter to play and rest in and all without breaking the budget!
