Benefits of self-reflection
What does the holiday season mean to you? Is it about spending quality time with your family? Reconnecting with friends? Shopping? Or is it about self-reflection? It comes as no surprise that self-reflection can be found at the bottom of everyone’s list or not at all. During this holiday rush, there are just so many things to do in a short span of time and sadly, this essential activity gets put in the wayside. You can argue that the act of reviewing oneself can be done at any time of the year. That may be true, however, what better time to reflect on your life than the last month of the year? As a business owner, you take the time to do annual business reviews. Why not do the same for yourself? The way I see it, success is born out of personal reflection. It is a way for you to check yourself and see if you are still on the right path.
How often did you assess your business’ performance this year? Do you do weekly, monthly or quarterly reviews? I will bet that you are at least doing quarterly reviews. With that said, how often do you self-reflect? With how busy things are, I’ll not be surprised if you answered never. With the coming of the new year, it’s time to change things up. Let’s look at the different benefits self-reflection can do for you professionally and personally.
Let’s You Appreciate Your Customers
Without your customers, you won’t have a business. It’s as simple as that. Take this time to reflect on how lucky you are to have people that still seek out your products and services despite the global pandemic. Use this time of self-reflection to come up with ways of how you can improve your connection with them and how better you can serve them. Show your appreciation by sending out emails with a simple holiday greeting or a simple thank you message.
Let’s You Discover What Actually Makes You Happy
What makes you happy? Self-reflection will help you answer that question. It can help you discover what gives you joy outside and within your business. The great thing about self-reflection is it gives you time to just stop and look back at your successes and accomplishments. It lets you appreciate them more and will give you a more positive outlook on the coming year.
